Historic Addition, Lincoln, Massachusetts, 1994
An Eighteenth Century country house stands at the heart of this extensive renovation and addition. The plan extends the existing four- cornered volume, generating a cobble stone courtyard framed by a new barn, a guesthouse, and an arcade that creates an entryway at the rear of the original house.

This project required the integration of a large program into a house that, in the words of our client, “should look modest like the majority of our friends and neighbors.” The site is a dramatic ravine with steep cliffs to one side and a small pasture rising on the other.
